Tag Heuer has announced its all-new Connected Modular 41 smartwatch. The new Android Wear watch is a smaller and cheaper version of the Connected Modular 45 that the company launched in March last year. Compared to that 45mm smartwatch, the latest Android Wear device has a diameter of 41mm. The price of Tag Heuer Connected Modular 41 starts at $1,200 (roughly Rs. 76,400). In comparison, the Modular 41 is available at $1,550 (roughly Rs. 98,700). Additionally, Tag Heuer also unveiled a Full Diamond version of the Connected Modular 45 smartwatch.
Coming to the specifications of the Connected Modular 41, like its bigger sibling, it is powered by an Intel platform and runs on Google's Android Wear. The AMOLED 390 x 390 screen is sharper at 326ppi compared to 287ppi and it offers more maximum brightness at 350 nits. Additionally, the storage has been doubled to 1GB RAM and 8GB internal memory. It also features GPS and NFC for Google Pay support.
Similar to the Connected Modular 45, users can customise almost every aspect of the Connected Modular 41, such as the watch band, buckle, lugs, and bezel (or module) surrounding the display. Tag Heuer has also launched pink, blue, and white leather straps alongside the Modular 41.
The new watch is water resistant up to 50m. The 13.2mm thick case is made of titanium or gold and the bezel is ceramic. The smartwatch comes with Android Wear 2.0, but whether it will run Android Oreo out-of-the-box is not known. The screen is made out of scratch-resistant sapphire and to up the glamour in smartwatches, the Android-powered smartwatch now comes in a Full Diamond edition.
Like we mentioned before, Tag Heuer has also launched a Full Diamond version of the Connected Modular 45 smartwatch. The Connected Modular 45 Full Diamond smartwatch case is made with 18K polished white gold, and on the bezels there are "589 VVS baguette size diamonds". The company says, the whole watch is worth "a total of 23.35 carats." In the 45mm smartwatch, the connected module is interchangeable with an Haute Horlogerie mechanical module, Chronograph Calibre 5 or COSC-certified Chronograph Tourbillon. It reportedly costs a cool $197,000 - approximately Rs. 1.25 crores.
