Google announced and provided availability along with pricing for quite a few things at its Made by Google event in San Francisco on Tuesday, from the two Pixel phones, its Amazon Echo rival called Google Home, a 4K HDR-capable Chromecast Ultra, its new smartphone VR system Daydream View, and home networking solution Google Wifi.
But except the Google Pixel and Google Pixel XL, which go up for pre-orders in India on October 13, none of the other products announced at the event are currently on their way to the country, a Google representative confirmed to Gadgets 360 at the event.
Pre-orders for the 5-inch and 5.5-inch phones have already started in the US, and Google is toeing the exact line of the iPhone 7 and 7 Plus pricing model, starting at $649 for the 32GB model of Pixel (Rs. 57,000 in India) and $749 for Pixel XL. Meanwhile, three other products - Google Home, Chromecast Ultra, and Daydream View - will all be available in November for $129 (roughly Rs. 8,600), $69 (roughly Rs. 4,600), and $79 (roughly Rs. 5,300) respectively. The Google Wifi will cost $129 (roughly Rs. 8,600) for one and $299 (roughly Rs. 19,900) for pack of three - and it will be available for pre-orders from November, and will ship from December in the US.
Google also spent considerable time talking about its new software innovations, with the Google Assistant taking centre stage. It forms a crucial part of the experience with both the Pixel lineup and Home, the latter of which is directly up against the rather famed Alexa.
Disclosure: Gadgets 360's travel and hotel for the event in San Francisco were sponsored by Google.
