Twitter Brings Back Bing Translation for Tweets in TweetDeck

Twitter is once again using Microsoft's Bing translations to provide users translated views of tweets that are posted in their non-native language. Twitter has rolled out the feature to TweetDeck users for now, its Twitter client.

TweetDeck now shows a 'Translate Tweet' link below any tweet not in the user's native language. Once clicked, the user will see the translated tweet below, along with the caption, "Translated from [Language] by Bing". The Bing logo is linked to the Twitter handle for Microsoft Translator.

Twitter has confirmed to Marketing Land the inclusion of the feature for TweetDeck users to Marketing Land. The company has made no further announcements about when the feature will roll out to the main Twitter Web-interface again, or to its Android and iOS apps.

The Bing-powered tweet translation feature appears to have begun rolling out earlier this year, with Marketing Land pointing to a Twitter user who posted "oh hey tweet translator by bing is back" as early as January 1.

To recall, the Bing translation service for Twitter was undergoing tests for iOS last year in June and later showed up during FIFA 2014 on apps before the feature disappeared from all platforms completely. However, the return of the tool might prove to be useful in case of international events and for journalists to stay updated.

The microblogging service earlier this month had started rolling out the 'While you were away' recap feature to some users. The feature, much like Facebook, shows major tweets from a user's network since the last login and shows them on top of the timeline. Twitter announced 'While you were away' back in November last year, and reportedly rolled it out to some users in first week of December.
