Xiaomi Redmi S2 has received a certification from Chinese certification agency TENAA. The official TENAA site details a list of specifications of the Redmi S2 that carries model number M1803E6E. It also shows the unibody build of the Redmi S2 smartphone and a vertically-placed dual rear camera setup that appears similar to the primary camera system of the iPhone X. The new development notably emerges days after the Redmi S2 was spotted in some firmware files. The files reiterate that the handset will debut in China and India.
As per the listing on TENAA, the Android 8.1.0 Oreo-based Xiaomi Redmi 2S features a 5.99-inch HD+ (720x1440 pixels) TFT display with an 18:9 aspect ratio and is powered by a 2GHz octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 625 SoC, paired with Adreno 506 GPU and 2GB, 3GB and 4GB of RAM options. There is dual rear camera setup with a 12-megapixel Sony IMX486/ OmniVision OV12A10 primary sensor and a 5-megapixel Samsung S5K5E8 secondary sensor. The rear camera setup is accompanied by an LED flash and a PDAF lens that supports EIS (electronic image stabilisation). On the front, the new Redmi model has a 16-megapixel sensor.
The Redmi S2 has 16GB, 32GB, and 64GB of onboard storage options that all are expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB). It also has 4G VoLTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, and GPS/ A-GPS. Further, there is an Infrared sensor and a rear-facing fingerprint sensor. The smartphone packs a 3080mAh battery and comes with a list of colour options, including Black, Rose Gold, Gold, White, Blue, Red, Pink, Gray, and Silver.
If we look at the images posted on the TENAA site, the Redmi S2 looks similar to the Redmi Note 5 Pro. The handset measures 160.73x77.26x8.1mm and weighs 170 grams.
Xiaomi hasn't revealed any details about the launch of the Redmi S2. However, the previous revelation through some firmware files confirms that it will come to China and India initially.
