Chinese handset manufacturer Xiaomi has confirmed that the upcoming Redmi smartphone will be dubbed Redmi Pro. As announced earlier, the new Xiaomi Redmi Pro smartphone will be revealed at an event in Beijing on July 27. In a Weibo post, Xiaomi confirmed the official 'Redmi Pro' naming for the upcoming Redmi smartphone.
A new leak claims that the Xiaomi Redmi Pro will feature a deca-core MediaTek MT6797M processor under the hood and will pack 3GB of RAM. The handset is said to run MIUI on top of Android 6.0 Marshmallow. There are also rumours that a 4GB of RAM variant will also exist. The Redmi Pro was also purportedly spotted on Geekbench benchmark (via Mobiltelefon) scoring 1218 in single-core tests while 4183 on multi-core test.
Based on earlier leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi Pro was seen in a teaser with Redmi's celeb face Liu Haoran holding a white Mi branded smartphone. If the leaked image was to be believed, the Redmi Pro will not sport the fingerprint scanner on the back. To put some context, the current generation Redmi Note 3 sports a fingerprint sensor at the back.
Some of the leaked Redmi Pro images claimed that the handset will sport a metal unibody with antenna bands on top and bottom of the smartphone. The volume rockers and the power button both were seen sitting on the right side of the phablet. Based on preliminary leaks, the Redmi Pro is said to feature Snapdragon 652 processor, 3GB of RAM, and 16GB of storage.
