Xiaomi has been rumoured to be working on the next-generation Redmi Note 5 and Redmi 5 smartphones for some time. New details have now emerged around the alleged Redmi Note 5 as well as Redmi 5. Notably, the Xiaomi Redmi 5A has just been launched.
According to Roland Quandt, the Redmi 5 will be launched in 16GB and 32GB storage variants while Gold and Black colours are rumoured. Another variant, called the Redmi 5 Plus, is rumoured to launch in 32GB and 64GB variants. It is said to come in Gold Black and Grey colours.
In a separate leak, alleged Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 has been spotted in the wild. The image surfaced on Slashleaks shows a handset featuring display with 18:9 aspect ratio. Further, the handset is said to come with dual camera. As for specifications based on preliminary leaks, the Xiaomi Redmi Note 5 is said to come powered by a Snapdragon 660 or MediaTek Helio P25 SoC, sport 16-megapixel and 5-megapixel rear camera sensors, and be powered by a 4000mAh battery.
As we mentioned these leaks have surfaced alongside the launch of the Redmi 5A, which was unveiled by Xiaomi on Monday. The all-new Redmi 5A also comes with some design changes which is highlighted by rounded corners for comfortable grip. Much like previous Redmi smartphones, the new Redmi 5A is said to offer decent battery life. Xiaomi claims massive eight-day long battery life on the Redmi 5A. It will also run on MIUI 9 out-of-the-box. Unfortunately, the entry-level Redmi 5A once again misses out on fingerprint scanner, similar to the Xiaomi Redmi 4A.
