After hitting 1 billion in revenues in 2016, Xiaomi India has a reason to celebrate. Xiaomi on Tuesday announced that has sold 1 million units of Xiaomi Redmi Note 4 (Review) in India within 45 days of its first sale on January 23.
Xiaomi added that the Redmi Note 4 sales figure makes it the fastest smartphone model in the country to sell 1 million units. The company also says that the sales within the time period imply one unit was sold every 4 seconds.
Notably, the announcement is another feather in the Xiaomi Redmi Note 4’s cap in India. Xiaomi had back in January revealed that the Redmi Note 4’s first sale had seen 250,000 units being sold out in 10 minutes. To recall, the smartphone 4 is sold via Flipkart and Mi.com and available without pre-registrations – however, the smartphone only becomes available to buy on certain sale days. The next sale is on Wednesday, and starts at 12pm IST. Lenovo is set to launch the Moto G5 Plus, a rival of the Redmi Note's, in India.
Xiaomi has launched the Redmi Note 4 in three memory/ storage variants in India - the 2GB RAM/ 32GB inbuilt storage model has been priced at Rs. 9,999, the 3GB RAM/ 32GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 10,999, while the 4GB RAM/ 64GB storage model has been priced at Rs. 12,999. It is available in Gold, Grey, Matte Black, and Silver colour variants.
The Redmi Note series has been very successful for the company in India. The Xiaomi Redmi Note 3 saw excellent sales figures as well, with the company claiming it had managed to sell 2.3 million units in the country following its 2016 launch, and declared it to be the bestselling online smartphone in India.
