One of the possible Thursday announcements from Xiaomi India could be about the India launch of the Redmi 3. Xiaomi unveiled the Redmi 3 smartphone priced at CNY 699 (approximately Rs. 7,000). To refresh, the Xiaomi Redmi 3 features a 5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) display; an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor; 2GB LPDDR3 RAM; 16GB of inbuilt storage; expandable via microSD card (up to 128GB); 4100mAh non-removable battery; MIUI 7; 13-megapixel rear camera with LED flash; 5-megapixel front-facing camera; dual-SIM, and 4G LTE connectivity (with support for LTE bands in India).
A recent report claimed that China's Xiaomi, which had raised over $1 billion (roughly Rs. 6,321 crores) in a round of funding back in 2014, is now under pressure as it missed sales target in 2015. The Chinese company is said to be questioned about the $46 billion valuation due to missing its sales target last year.
