A day after Google's announcement, Spice Mobility on Thursday announced the launch of its new Android One smartphone in Indonesia, Nepal and Sri Lanka.

Out of the three regions, the Android One smartphone by Spice Mobility in Indonesia has been launched under a different brand, and is dubbed the Nexian Journey One. The company hasn't detailed the model names or launch dates for the other two regions - Nepal and Sri Lanka. Also, it didn't include any price or availability.

As Google had also detailed on Wednesday, the smartphone will run the latest version of Android 5.1 Lollipop, something Spice also corroborated in its statement. Spice further suggests that the latest version of the Android operating system offers improved battery life, enhanced security features and smarter notifications.

Commenting on the launch, Prashant Bindal, CEO, Spice Mobility Ltd, said, "We are delighted to expand our reach into international markets of Indonesia, Sri Lanka and Nepal with the revolutionary Android One smartphones. We are pleased with the customer response towards the Android One phone in India and are confident that the product will be equally successful in these markets as well, enabling us to strengthen our position in the international mobile market."
