French tipster NowhereElse received purported images of the Galaxy S6 body from an unnamed source that shows the handset, which is likely to launch on March 1 at a pre-MWC event, sporting a design reminiscent to the iPhone. In the leaked images, the Samsung Galaxy S6 is seen to house speaker grille and charging port at the bottom panel while the cut-outs for the antennas are also visible. On the sides, the alleged Galaxy S6 will include SIM card ports and the back panel is likely to be sealed.
The handset in the leaked image is seen sporting rounded edges and the rear camera accompanied by the dual-LED flash placed on the right side, instead of being below the camera as seen on the Samsung Galaxy S5. The new leaked images of the Samsung Galaxy S6 corroborate earlier claims from the case maker Spigen who also showed similar placement of flash.
Korea Times, on the other hand, reports that the Galaxy S6 will launch in two variants - sporting flat and rounded screens. The report quotes an executive at a local parts supplier, "The Galaxy S6 will make its debut in two versions - flat and rounded screens. It will have a metal build, which will make it look even more like Apple's latest models."
Notably, the report even suggested that the Galaxy S6 will use glass on the front and back panel, and include Samsung Pay, an unannounced NFC-based mobile payment feature similar to Apple Pay mobile systems.
Another Korean publicationfurther claims that the Samsung Galaxy S6 will leverage LoopPay technology for mobile payment systems. It is even being speculated that LoopPay might launch mobile payment enabled cases for existing high-end Galaxy devices including Samsung Galaxy S5 and Galaxy Note 4. For the uninitiated, LoopPay uses Magnetic Secure Transmission (MST) technology for mobile payments.
Samsung's much-touted Galaxy S Edge design expected to feature dual rounded edges has been tipped in a new patent document. Patently Mobile has reported about a new patent document from Samsung that may show design concepts for the Galaxy S Edge. According to sketches on the document, a Samsung device with rounded edges and a "recessed top side" is seen.
The accompanying captions alongside the sketch claim that the rounded edges in the device will show apps when the handset is in use. The rear camera design image shows a "mysterious pop-up feature." Unfortunately, the patent sketch doesn't reveal much about the functions the pop-up feature will perform.
Samsung this week started sending invites for its Galaxy Unpacked 2015 event scheduled for March 1 where the South Korean company is likely to launch the Galaxy S6 flagship and Galaxy S Edge, the curved-display variant of the flagship handset.
