The OTA update for the Galaxy S6 Edge+ claims to add improved stability of call, battery usage optimisation, apart from security enhancements. The update notification screenshot shared shows that once updated, the Galaxy S6 Edge+ won't allow users to downgrade due to changes in the security policy.
Considering that both the Galaxy Note 5 and Galaxy S6 Edge+ smartphones sport similar innards; there is no surprise that both the handsets are receiving similar OTA updates.
So far, Samsung has not revealed any plans to update the Galaxy S6 Edge+ alongside other top of the line handsets such as the Galaxy Note 5 to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, a previous leak suggested that the smartphones are part of the company's first wave of Marshmallow rollouts.
Samsung India launched the Galaxy S6 Edge+ back in August priced at Rs. 57,900 for the 32GB variant. The Android 5.1 Lollipop-based Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge+ features a 5.7-inch QHD (1440x2560 pixels) Super-Amoled display with a pixel density of 515ppi, and is powered by a 64-bit octa-core Exynos 7420 SoC with four Cortex-A57 cores clocked at 2.1GHz, and four Cortex-A53 cores clocked at 1.5GHz, apart from 4GB of LPDDR4 RAM.
