After the launch of Samsung Galaxy S5 smartphone, we have been hearing of numerous variants of the smartphone, such as a premium version, a mini version, and a camera phone version. Recent reports once again point to the existence of a premium version, and also indicate a number of expected features and specifications of the device, which is said to be dubbed Samsung Galaxy S5 Prime.

Reportedly codenamed 'Project KQ', following the Project K codename used for the already-released Galaxy S5, the Galaxy S5 Prime is being said to finally bring to reality some previous rumours regarding a Quad-HD display on the Galaxy S5. Sammobile also reports that Samsung would be ditching the Qualcomm's Snapdragon chipsets on the KQ premium variant, and would instead use an Intel processor for one of the two variants, while the other is said to sport the Samsung Exynos 5430 chipset.

Going into further details, it is being said that the for the alleged Galaxy S5 Prime sporting the Exynos 5430, Samsung might aim for a 2.1GHz and 1.5GHz clocking speed on the ARM Cortex A15 and A7 cores respectively, and boast of a small boost in CPU power compared to previous iterations. Furthermore, the report mentions the GPU on the Exynos 5430 will sport the same Mali Midgard architecture seen in the previous Exynos 5422 chipset version, however, the new version is said to get a clock speed boost up to 600MHz from the previous version's 533MHz. A HVEC hardware decoder might also get introduced for media consumption.

Reports further hint that Intel's XMM7260 Category 6 (300mbit/s) LTE modem will be featured in the Intel chipset variant, which will reportedly ship only to European regions with no word on the US model. However, the report says a possibility remains that Samsung might make a Galaxy S5 Prime variant with a Snapdragon 805 chipset.

The report also mentions two other recently leaked Samsung devices, a new high-end tablet device in prototype stages codenamed "a3w5" touting a QHD screen resolution and coming with Wi-Fi, 3G and LTE versions. Also mentioned was an "S" (slte_eur) device, which is described as sporting the same specifications as the KQ variant of the Samsung Galaxy S5.

For now, we'd suggest you take the details mentioned in the above report with a pinch of salt, with Samsung not having officially revealed anything about variants for the Galaxy S5 till date.
