It sports a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280pixels) resolution display with 2.5D curved glass and a pixel density of 267ppi. Under-the-hood, the handset packs an octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 616 processor clocked at 1.5GHz, clubbed with 2GB RAM.

The handset houses a 13-megapixel rear camera with CMOS sensor and LED flash, while a 5-megapixel front-facing camera is also on board. The Oppo A53 sports 16GB of inbuilt storage, which can be further expanded using microSD card (maximum capacity unspecified).
