Moto G (Gen 3) Tipped to Be Water Proof, Feature 2GB of RAM

Motorola's Moto G (Gen 3) has been spotted on an Indian import/ export website tipping 2GB of RAM and IPX7 certification for the handset. In the meanwhile, the much-anticipated successor to the Moto G (Gen 2) has also been spotted in leaked image.

The Indian import/ export site, Zauba (via Mobipicker), lists the Moto G (Gen 3) as having come into the country last week with model number Motorola XT1550. The smartphone was shipped from China and Hong Kong, and had a declared value of Rs. 8,436 and Rs. 15,256 each, tipping there might be two variants of the handset. It should be noted that import/ export website price listings are only declared values, and usually are not accurate reflections of actual market price.

The Zauba listing tips that the Moto G (Gen 3) features 2GB of RAM, 8GB of inbuilt storage (for the cheaper model), and packs 5-inch display. The RAM value tipped by the import/ export site contradicts recent leaks that claimed the Moto G (Gen 3) will pack just 1GB of RAM. An earlier report even suggested that the Moto G (Gen 3) would come in two variants: 8GB inbuilt storage with 1GB of RAM, and 16GB storage with 2GB of RAM.

In another leak, Mobile Syrup has posted a couple of images of the Moto G purportedly corroborating previous design leaks. One of the leaked images also tip details such as 4G support; 13-megapixel rear camera; 5-megapixel front camera; quad-core processor; microSD card support; 2470mAh battery, and IPX7 certification, which are all in-line with an earlier leak.

Notably, the India invite said, "A good friend will offer you their umbrella when it rains. A best friend will forever be ready to dance in the rain with you," hinting that Moto G (Gen 3) will be water proof. The IPX7 certification further cements the speculations. A third-party online retailer recently listed the Motorola Moto G (Gen 3) with a price tag of EUR 199 (approximately Rs. 13,700).

Motorola has already sent out invites for an event on July 28 seemingly confirming recent reports that tipped the company would launch its new Moto G (Gen 3) and Moto X (Gen 3) smartphones on that date. The Lenovo-owned company sent out invites for an event in New Delhi, as well as events in London, New York, and Sao Paulo.
