Micromax has launched its new Canvas Fire-series smartphone, the Fire 5, priced at Rs. 6,199. The Micromax Canvas Fire 5 will be available in Champagne, Grey, and Silver colours. The company will be offering 6 months of free Gaana streaming service subscription for unlimited song downloads.
The biggest highlight of the Canvas Fire 5 is its dual front-facing speakers. The Android 6.0 Marshmallow-based smartphone features a 5.5-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) IPS display. The Micromax Canvas Fire 5 is powered by a 1.3GHz quad-core MediaTek SoC paired with 1GB of RAM. There is 16GB of inbuilt storage on board which is further expandable via microSD card (up to 64GB). The dual-SIM handset sports an 8-megapixel rear autofocus camera with LED flash. There is a 5-megapixel front-facing camera on board as well. The connectivity options on the handset include Bluetooth, GPS/ A-GPS, GPRS/ EDGE, 3G, and Micro-USB. The handset is backed by a 2500mAh battery.
Commenting on the launch, Shubhajit Sen, Chief Marketing Officer, Micromax Informatics said, "About 80% of the consumers watch videos on their mobile devices at least once every 2-3 days, with more than half opting to watch them daily. With youth spending a fifth of their digital media time on audio and video entertainment it is clear that consumers today are seeking sound and music functionality from their smartphones. The new Canvas Fire 5 is specifically designed for such audience to make it easy for them to store, carry and listen to good quality music anytime and anywhere at a wallet friendly price."
Micromax earlier this month unveiled the new Canvas Amaze 2 smartphone in India at Rs. 7,499. The handset was available online exclusively via Flipkart.
