After launching the P10 and P10 Plus at MWC 2017 last month, Huawei has now announced a budget version of the flagship device, called P10 Lite. The smartphone has been officially launched in the UK, and is priced at GBP 299 (roughly Rs. 24,000). It will go up for pre-orders from Carphone Warehouse, EE, and Vodafone, and will go on sale from March 31.
The company has largely tried to keep the design language for the Huawei P10 Lite similar to the P10 flagships, with a 2.5D curved glass on the front and a metal frame. The P10 Lite will be offered in Midnight Black and Platinum Gold options with ceramic sandblasted finish on the back. The most notable difference with the budget model is the fingerprint scanner which has moved over to the back.
The Huawei P10 Lite runs EMUI 5.1 based on Android 7.0 Nougat. It sports a 5.2-inch full-HD (1080x1920 pixels) display, and is powered by a 2.15GHz octa-core HiSilicon Kirin 658 SoC with Mali-T830MP2 GPU coupled with 4GB of RAM. The smartphone comes with 32GB of inbuilt storage, which is expandable via a microSD card (up to 128GB).
As the smartphone falls under the budget category, the Huawei P10 Lite comes with a single 12-megapixel rear camera minus the Leica branding that were seen on the P10 and P10 Plus, while the front gets an 8-megapixel selfie snapper. The P10 Lite's camera app also gets the Portrait Selfie mode for bokeh effects.
The hybrid dual-SIM Huawei P10 Lite is fitted with a 3000mAh battery with support for fast charging, measures 146.5x72x7.2mm and weighs 142 grams. Connectivity options include 4G LTE, W-iFi 802.11ac, Bluetooth 4.1, GPS, NFC. Additional features include Knuckle Sense which lets you tap and draw on the display using your knuckles. The UK launch was reported by Pocket-Lint.
