The CyanogenMod team has released its latest build, version CM 11.0 M12, which is now available for download for users of compatible Android phones. Additionally, the team has teased the scramble pin layout feature that is expected to debut in an upcoming update of the distribution.

The official site liststhe latest CyanogenMod build (CM 11.0 M12) for HTC One (M8), Samsung Galaxy S4, Galaxy Note 3, Galaxy S4 Mini, Motorola Razr, Sony Xperia Z, Xperia Z Ultra, Xperia Tablet Z, Amazon Kindle Fire HD 7, HTC One Max, and Nexus 7 Wi-Fi.

The open-source community has not revealed an official changelog for the update. 9to5google however notes that the latest CM 11.0 M12 has been built on the CM 11.0 M11 that was released last month and is based on Android 4.4.2 KitKat. The CyanogenMod 11.0 M11 update included "a range of bug fixes and improvements: a fix for signal strength on certain devices, updates to frameworks and core apps, a list of devices connected to tethering and more," as per 9to5Google. Notably, the community has started working on a new version that will be based on Android 5.0 Lollipop.

In other news, the CyanogenMod team teased an upcoming scramble pin layout feature that is likely to be introduced in an upcoming update to the OS. The feature is expected to increase security of phones protected by a pin lock setup as the feature scrambles the number set each time a user wants to enter pin to unlock. The teased scramble pin layout feature is most likely to land on the Cyanogen OS-based OnePlus One smartphone.

Last week, OnePlus One users started receiving the CM 11S 44S OTA update, an update that primarily fixed the long-lamented unresponsive touchscreen issue.
