Five months after its release to Nexus devices, Google's latest mobile operating system version - Android 6.0 Marshmallow - has finally surpassed the 1 percent adoption mark on active devices visiting Google Play. The search giant has updated its Google Play distribution data for the seven-day period ending February 1.

According to Google's latest Android distribution chart, Android 6.0 Marshmallow now runs on 1.2 percent active Android devices. This is a 0.5 percent increase from the company's January figure of 0.7 percent.

Sharing the distribution data of different versions of Android, Google reported that Android Lollipop has a total share of around 34.1 percent of active Android devices (with Android 5.0 Lollipop running on 17.0 percent of devices and Android 5.1 at 17.1 percent) that check into Google Play.

According to the latest data, Android 4.4.x KitKat is going down steadily in the charts and now powers 35.5 percent devices compared to 36.1 percent last month - a decrease of 0.6 percent.
