Lenovo Unveils New ThinkPad Laptops With USB Type-C Power Adapters, 8th-Gen Intel Core Processors

Lenovo has unveiled the 2018 variants of its ThinkPad laptop series ahead of the CES 2018 event in Las Vegas. Lenovo has introduced the updates in the ThinkPad X, ThinkPad T, and ThinkPad L laptop series. Some of the most striking new features include the 8th-generation Intel Core processors and the USB Type-C power adapters.

In the ThinkPad X series, Lenovo has announced the X280 and X380 Yoga laptops. It has announced three laptops in the ThinkPad T lineup: the T480s, the T480, and the T580. Additionally, the company has also unveiled four laptops in the ThinkPad L lineup: the L380 Yoga, the L380, the L480, and the L580. 

The rejigged Lenovo ThinkPad laptops have introduced more business-oriented features including thinner and lighter form factors, apart from security upgrades. The new products include facial recognition support on Windows Hello, webcam covers, USB Type-C power adapters, and side docking features.

Lenovo ThinkPad X series
In the ThinkPad X series, Lenovo has offered a rapid charging feature that promises to get back to 80 percent battery life in 60 minutes. The ThinkPad the X380 Yoga will arrive with an Active Pen and an IR camera with Windows Hello support. The ThinkPad X280 price starts at $999 (roughly Rs. 63,400) and the X380 Yoga will be available starting at $1,459 (roughly Rs. 92,500). The Lenovo ThinkPad X lineup will be available later in January.

Lenovo ThinkPad T series
The ThinkPad T lineup has introduced new security features like the IR camera, fingerprint reader and ThinkShutter Camera. Lenovo claims that the ThinkPad T480s is one of the lightest business laptops in its category. Lenovo promises these devices can get up to 27 hours of battery life. Meanwhile, the price of ThinkPad T480 starts at $989 (roughly Rs. 62,700) and the ThinkPad T480s starts at $1,269 (roughly Rs. 80,500). The Lenovo ThinkPad T580 price starts at $1,079 (roughly Rs. 68,400). The Lenovo ThinkPad T lineup will be available later this month.

Lenovo ThinkPad L series
Meanwhile, in the ThinkPad L laptop series, Lenovo has introduced optional multi-touch displays, complete docking solutions, and the 8th Gen Intel Core processor. The laptops in this lineup are available in a new 13-inch form factor, apart from the 14-inch and 15-inch variants. The ThinkPad L380 Yoga will be available at prices starting at $549 (roughly Rs. 34,800), the ThinkPad L380 will cost $449 (roughly Rs. 28,500), the ThinkPad L480 price starts at $779 (roughly Rs. 49,400), and the ThinkPad L580 price starts at $769 (roughly Rs. 48,700). The Lenovo ThinkPad L lineup will be available in February 2018.

Lenovo ThinkPad Docking Station
Lenovo has introduced the ThinkPad Ultra Docking Station that offers a one-touch slide-to-connect mechanism for plugging in laptops. ThinkPad Docking Station will be available in three different variants from this month: Basic 90W at $199 (roughly Rs. 12,600), Pro 135W at $249 (roughly Rs. 15,800), and Ultra 135W at $299 (roughly Rs. 19,000).

Lenovo Tablet 10

Alongside the laptops, Lenovo also released a new 2-in-1 PC called the Lenovo Tablet 10. It is powered by an Intel Celeron N Series processor, features a fingerprint reader and discrete Trusted Platform Module for business-class protection, apart from an integrated rechargeable pen, and up to 9 hours of battery life. The 2-in-1 will be available from January 2018, but pricing and availability have not yet been detailed.

Lenovo ThinkVision monitors
Apart from the laptops and the docking station, Lenovo has also announced the ThinkVision X24 and ThinkVision P32u monitors. The X24 is a monitor with just 4mm thickness and 1.1-mm bezels. It is priced at $249 (roughly Rs. 15,800). Meanwhile, the P32u features a UHD 4K display with multi-colour space capability. It is priced at $1,349 (roughly Rs. 85,500).
