Sony Liv, the video-on-demand service of Multi Screen Media (MSM), has entered into a distribution agreement with online video streaming service provider BoxTV.

Following the agreement, BoxTV would provide the videos of shows on Multi Screen Media's leading channels - Sony Entertainment Television and SAB - to its viewers.

According to Sony Entertainment Network Executive Vice President (New Media) Nitesh Kripalani, initially MSM would share 10 to 12 shows every week with BoxTV.

"We want to reach as many people as possible. It is also a content sharing platform for us as Hathway, Indusmedia, etc. Same concept applies here also. We need to expand our reach and be where our Consumers are," Kripalani told PTI.

However, he declined to comment on the revenue sharing mechanism between Sony Liv and BoxTV.

Kripalani further added that video-on-demand service in India is expanding and people are watching it on their tab, mobile phones and on Internet.

"We have so far 82 million downloads so far. We have around four to five million views every month," he added.

BoxTV Business Head Pandurang Nayak said: "The association is also a big new leap for BoxTV where we are building more and more on the platform through aggregation of content via unique tie-ups with existing digital brands like Sony Liv."

BoxTV.com has over 14,000 hours of content, including blockbuster movies, TV shows, documentaries, short films and more. It offers premium content from over 40 content partners including Sony Entertainment Pictures, Disney UTV, Shemaroo Entertainment, Rajshri Entertainment, Reliance, Ultra etc.
