  • The Last of Us Part II is the sequel to 2013's breakout PS3 hit
  • It could be out this year
  • This comes via a Sony Sweden post on Facebook

Hotly anticipated PS4-exclusive The Last of Us Part II could be out sooner than you think. While publisher Sony or Naughty Dog, the game's developer hasn't officially announced a release date just yet, that hasn't stopped Sony Sweden from listing a release window for the game.

A post on the Facebook page for Sony Sweden states The Last of Us Part II is out in 2018 alongside Ghost of Tsushima from Infamous developer Sucker Punch. This isn't a confirmation by any means and Sony has in the past, gotten dates wrong. Most notably with God of War having a March release date on the PS Store that was duly removed and later pushed to April 20.

However it does give fans a glimmer of hope. Assuming they're due for a 2018 release, we should see more at E3 2018. Though if we were to hazard a guess, Sony would be wise to release these games before Red Dead Redemption 2 that's slated for an October 26 release date. More so since Sony has a marketing deal for Red Dead Redemption 2 and would want to ensure there's nothing to take away from that game when it's out.

Previously, The Last of Us Part II Director Neil Druckmann confirmed that Naughty Dog almost did not go through with The Last of Us Part II. Reason being, it was felt that the initial attempts at story weren’t “special” enough.

“Like many of you, we have a deep love for the world of The Last of Us and its characters, and while a sequel may have seemed like a foregone conclusion, that wasn’t the case. We knew that it needed to be a story worth telling and, perhaps more importantly, a story worthy of Joel and Ellie,” he wrote on the official PlayStation blog. “After spending years on different ideas (and almost giving up), we finally uncovered a story that felt special—a story that evolved into an epic journey.”
