Popular multiplayer shooter Overwatch will be getting a game of the year edition. According to Xbox achievement tracking site TrueAchievements, it's unimaginatively called Overwatch: Game the Year Edition and has a release date of May 23.
Safe to say, it should hit the PS4 and PC as well. Here's a picture of the game's box art.
In more Overwatch news, a new event is on the way. While the last one dealt with Overwatch's lore dubbed as Uprising, prior events were based on real-world festivities such as Christmas and Halloween. The next event is to celebrate Overwatch's anniversary itself. This was confirmed by the official Overwatch account that stated there are no timing details yet for the event. Expect it soon considering that loot boxes related to it have been discovered with an expiry date of June 5, 2017.
For what it’s worth, we found Overwatch to be one of 2016’s best games. There are various heroes to choose from, near perfect gameplay, and the promise of extended support and free content, most of which Blizzard has made good on so far. Although the Overwatch: Game of the Year Edition seems like a threadbare inclusion. Hopefully there's more to it than what's been uncovered because it doesn't seem to have the kind of value gamers have grown to expect from games sporting the 'game of the year edition' moniker.
