Uber, the taxi and ridesharing service, on Wednesday announced an update for its Android and iOS apps with two new features that the company claims will make the ride experience 'seamless'.

The changes were announced by Uber in a post on its blog, "We envision a day when there is no coordination necessary to take an Uber ride. Simply push the button, and the rest is essentially on cruise control: the car quickly shows up at exactly the right place and whisks you away to your destination via the best possible route. The latest rider and driver app releases take us one step closer to that world."

The latest Uber app update for Android and iOS brings new features for both the rider and driver. The company has added destination entry in the rider app, which will allow the rider to enter destination at any point before pick-up, so that users can skip the step of telling drivers where they want to go.

Apart from destination entry, the latest update to the Uber app for Android and iOS also brings turn-by-turn navigation in the driver app. The new feature for Uber drivers will enable turn-by-turn navigation to the destination provided by the rider with just one tap. The company said, "There's no need to juggle multiple apps or waste time typing in an address."

The company announced that the new features are live now for both Android and iOS apps. However, the Uber app listing on the Google Play and App Store, last updated on August 11, does not list the new features in the 'What's New' section.

"Together, these features provide a seamless end-to-end ride experience that saves otherwise wasted time for both riders and drivers. For drivers, that means Uber is more lucrative: saving time on trips means more trips per hour," added the official blog.

Last month, Lyft, a privately-held donation based firm from San Francisco, launched its ride-sharing service in New York. Uber has been considered as one of the arch rivals of the Lyft taxi service.

Recently, Uber re-launched its Windows Phone app for consumers.
