Staying true to it's tagline 'The piggest game ever' Rovio's latest game Bad Piggies has indeed smashed its way to the number one spot in the US iTunes App Store within just 3 hours of its launch.

Tweeting the achievement, Ville Heijari, VP Franchise Development praised Rovio's efforts on this new creation.

Rovio has a long list of achievements when it comes to its popular Angry Birds franchise. This isn't the first time a title from Rovio has climbed to the top spot. It's previous non-Angry Birds game Amazing Alex reached the number one position iPhone Paid App chart in eight hours.

Prior to this accomplishment, Angry Birds Space not just hit the top spot in a few hours of its launch, but continued its success with 100 million downloads in just 76 days.

Bad Piggies, which is now out for iOS, Mac and Android is set on Piggy Island lets you play from the swine perspective. The game moves away from the sling shot tradition to build vehicles and get to the eggs. You need to help the pigs steer to their destination with your creation of the ultimate flying machine. the game features over 60 levels with Rovio's promise of future updates. A 3-star achievement in every level will unlock 30 more puzzles.

With the launch of its new title, Rovio should get a boost considering its revenue generation ability has suddenly slipped badly over the past two months. The Finnish gaming studio is also expected to get a push as it looks to a possible stock market flotation next year.
