Yu Televentures' quest to redefine the flagship smartphone continues with its latest offering, the Yu Yunicorn. Its previous attempt, the Yutopia (Review), was an ambitious smartphone which looked tempting on paper, but didn't quite fulfil our expectations when we tested it.
Yu Yunicorn Summary
The Yu Yunicorn boasts of a unibody metal design and just so happens to be the best looking Yu smartphone to date. The full-HD display produces vivid colours and good sunlight legibility. Battery life is also very good as the phone will easily last you a couple of days on a single charge. The phone is powered by a MediaTek Helio P10 SoC and 4GB of RAM. You also get 32GB of storage which can be expanded by up to 128GB through the hybrid SIM slot. Performance is good and Yu also offer a revamped Around services feature. The 13-megapixel rear camera is a bit disappointing as the focusing speed is painfully slow and level of detail in the captured images aren't great. Overall, the Yunicorn is an aesthetically pleasing phone with a good battery life but the competition offers better all-round performance, which makes this tough to recommend.
