Xiaomi explains that this model has been launched because its Redmi Note 9 series has become more expensive due to the GST hike and Rupee-Dollar fluctuations. Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime mobile was launched on 4th August 2020. The phone comes with a 6.53-inch touchscreen display offering a resolution of 1080x2340 pixels at a pixel density of 394 pixels per inch (ppi) and an aspect ratio of 19.5:9. The display sports Gorilla Glass for protection. Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime is powered by a 2GHz octa-core MediaTek Helio G80 processor. It comes with 4GB of RAM. The Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime runs Android 10 and is powered by a 5020mAh non-removable battery.

As far as the cameras are concerned, the Xiaomi Redmi 9 Prime on the rear packs a 13-megapixel (f/2.2) primary camera; an 8-megapixel (f/2.2) camera; a 5-megapixel (f/2.4) camera, and a 2-megapixel camera. It sports an 8-megapixel camera on the front for selfies with an f/2.0 aperture.
