  • Great game great set
Maleko (Dec 4, 2017) on Amazon
Well i already seen whats inside from youtube reviews and its a pretty nice set. Giving to the nephews so not opening it up. But for those who dont know its your typical rpg game in an untypical setting. Based on aging titans (large creatures) where people now live it seems on an earth covered with oceans.

Great JRPG. Lots of story and great characters to meet and discover. Very nice game and vibrant game world. My only complaint is the switch hardware doesn't do this game justice. I'd much rather be playing it on PC at 4k with 60FPS.

  • Fantastic.
Sterger (Dec 2, 2017) on Amazon
Honestly, it's a really solid special edition set. Unlike some other SEs, they didn't skim out on the art book by making it 5 pages and instead it's decently thick, high quality. The packaging itself is rather standard, and the steel book is really nice with some nice cover art. It's not exuberantly priced either, so would recommend if you have the extra twenty for it and are a fan of Xenoblade.

  • Nice edition if you can get it sent by Amazon undamaged!
    Hunter_aran (Dec 3, 2017) on Amazon
Super nice looking edition that I can't wait to open and play! Problem is that Amazon sent this crushed in a box with a 60-lb dog food bag! Good job, Amazon! What were you thinking? So I have to wait to get another one before I can play it, at Amazon's expense. Nice. I'll update this review when/if Amazon can manage to send me one without it being smashed. ;)

  • Great game, and the artbook is awesome
Edward LaHaye (Dec 5, 2017) on Amazon
Great game, and the artbook is awesome. I love the metal case as well. The artbook I would say is worth the extra 40$, especially with the prime discount this is worth it. The soundtrack disc is ok I would say, it has a select few tracks.

  • Great box, great game.
Nightlord (Dec 5, 2017) on Amazon
3 weeks of play------------------------Time for some more thoughts. I am still progressing about 40+hrs in but so far my 5 star remains.-I personally feel soundtrack CD should be gone from limited edition from video games from now on unless demand for it is very high which I have no data to prove with. Everything is digitized and I'd prefer something like small mini character figures or other form of value.-Steelcase is awesome and I have a feel it will become standard component of Switch limited editions. Retailers giving out steelcase for other games as well already.-artbook: Main reason why I purchase special editions. It has rough sketches of protagonists, antagonists, environments, etc at a decent sized 200+ pages in hard cover. It's a good edition if you want to become a fan of this game or want to understand more about the world of Xenoblade 2. It doesn't feel cheap like those fake limited artbooks some video game special editions have which are actually just instruction manuals with some character illlustrations.game-you will like this if you like Japanese animes and J-style jokes and comedies. JRPG stories typically put a lot of focus of teamwork (nakama) and this game is no different. However, I have not seen the ending yet so I do not know if it stands true. If you don't like big eyed characters and like Skyrim stuff, then you might find this cheesy.-battle is fun yet takes time to get a hang of it.Is it worth $129.99 CAD? I would feel more comfortable if this was regular priced at $99.99 or $109.99, so just skip eating outside for once or twice, and grab this instead if you are interested in this special edition instead of regular.-------------The game itself has been reviewed numerous times on Youtube, so I'll focus more on the special edition itself.1. Contents-semi-hard paper box with artbook, metal case, soundtrack, and the game.Box is sturdy and front illustration has a pop up effect. Metal case is a great limited edition idea and I expect more limited editions will create metal cases for switch. Artbook is hard cover and contains concepts and sketches from Xenoblade 2. Soundtrack usual deal.2. worth it?with Amazon prime discount yes, but full pricing or scalper price, definitely not.

  • Arguably the best special edition of a Switch game to come from ...
Magician (Dec 5, 2017) on Amazon
Arguably the best special edition of a Switch game to come from Nintendo. Even nicer than the master edition for Zelda: BotW (in my opinon). The art book is massive and hardback, rather than softback like the UK special edition. Although the jewel case for the game is very cool, I was sad to see that this edition doesn't come with a basic game case in addition to the jewel case, again...like the UK special edition does. And the soundtrack is sort of standard for special editions these days.Whether you're a fan of the Xenoblade series, a collector, or just a jrpg fan in general...this special edition is a no-brainer must-buy.

  • What great content for a special edition
Derek (Dec 4, 2017) on Amazon
What great content for a special edition! I am a sucker for art books, and this one did not disappoint. There are tons of pages on character designs, monster designs, and environmental designs. The art book alone makes me super happy. Not to mention the amazing design of the box it comes in, and also on the metal case to hold the game. I don't really use a cd player and none of my computers have one, but since playing the game for about 10 hours straight yesterday I can say the music is fantastic. I haven't cared about characters this much in an RPG in awhile, and I keep wanting to know more about each one of them. Each playable character has secrets or a driving motive and its exciting to see what comes next from each of them. I will say I did find myself getting attacked by much higher level enemies far easier than in previous Blade games, which could just be me being clumsy but it was frustrating at times. Other than that, the game is colorful, the characters are a breath of fresh air ( even Rex who is kind of the stereotypical protagonist but then again he's not) and the voice acting to me is superb. This was the sole reason for me wanting a Switch (and of course Mario Odyssey) and it didn't disappoint. I have read one thing that when the Switch isn't docked the quality of the game looks bad. I do notice it isn't as crisp, but I was playing it in bed last night and it didn't make things unplayable or distracting for me. It is a thing I noticed, but I was just happy with the ability to play and lay down. Check this game out! For me it has been the most fun I have had playing a RPG in awhile!

  • Thank you Monolith Soft!
Parttimepeasant (Dec 27, 2017) on Amazon
Oh lord, another one of these Monolith Soft epics. Time to dissect another fantastic game.Gameplay/combat system - A very fun real time combat system is present. You control the protagonist directly, along up to two other AI characters. Each of these are able to equip AI support characters, who are responsible for weapon types and ability sets. Normal attacks happen automatically when you're close enough to the enemy, and when you hit them enough, open up skills that you can active at will. Using these opens the door to stronger moves and combos. Much depth is present: your positioning while attacking, elements you attack with, and when to (and when not to) heal all come into play. Some of the tougher enemies will warrant learning this system, but the game feels very well balanced overall. This game is divided into the typical main quest/side quest format. The main quest is quite lengthy, and by the time you're done you'll wonder what happened to 60-80 hours of your life. Yes, there are fetch quests, but other side quests are quite unique and even have multiple parts. I was never bored at any point; this is a testament to good game design.Graphics - Framerate is excellent in general; only in very select instances will you experience any performance issues (and you really have to load the screen up with NPCs and enemies to do this). I'll be brutally honest right away: this is not the most impressive game in terms of sheer texture and internal resolution, for those who are used to 4K and up resolutions on other platforms. What this game excels at, however, is in its art direction. The scenery is absolutely breathtaking. Plant life abounds is extremely varied animals roam the landscape. Character and enemy design is fantastic; nothing feels cheap and overused. No two environments will look exactly the same, and you'll willingly desire to get lost. And as a special note to the very vocal (and very feminist) minority complaining about the female character designs: nobody is forcing you to play this game. The lead character designer is known for this particular style of artwork. Please stop ruining things for others.Story - The plot works completely fine as a standalone entry, though as you'd probably guess, there is a bit extra here for those who have played past entries. This game takes on a lighter tone than previous ones, but that's not to say that its inflexible: the tonal shifts between serious drama and mirthful, anime like comedy are near seamless. Virtually every character in the main cast is likable. And without spoiling anything: this game has one of the best conclusions I've seen in the genre in years.Music and sound - Typical Yasunori Mitsuda music direction. And by typical, I mean the battle themes have the power to imbue your real life fists with the ability to smash through concrete, as guitars, break neck pace electronica, and some of the swankiest horns around encourage you. Classical pieces and hauntingly beautiful vocal tracks help set the tone outside of battle. If there is a beef I have with this game, its the English vocals and localization. Others love it. I do not. I am extremely biased towards original Japanese vocals in my JRPGs. Why do most of the characters sound British and Welsh? For some odd reason, many of the character names were changed for the localization, presumably to make them easier for English audiences to understand. This is very silly logic: most fans of this sort of thing prefer the original names. Thankfully, the Japanese vocal track is available for download at the eshop, if you can't stomach the prospect of your game turning into a BBC drama. The Special Edition - By now you're probably wondering how that other stuff that came with the game is. The steelbook is beautiful and doesn't feel cheap. As for the art book, its a full sized hardcover with good quality pages. The sound sample is, as you'd expect, not the full soundtrack, but it has some nice pieces. Packing was very well thought out. The art book in particular gets it own plastic shrink wrap to protect the contents.Bottom line: If you own a Switch and like RPGs, this game needs to be in your library.

  • So happy they made a sequel
Jazzy (Dec 26, 2017) on Amazon
Husband absolutely loves his new game. He just beat it yesterday and he's already working on another play through. So happy they made a sequel. He says that it has a tiny bit of stuff from it's predecessor but has enough new stuff it feels like another game (which is good for someone like me who has no idea whats happening).5/5 stars, hope they make another game

Amazon Customer (Dec 25, 2017) on Amazon
Xenoblade Chronicles 2 is a not a perfect game, but it is very good and very addictive to play. The goodies that come in this special edition set are pretty standard, but well done. The art book is solid, of decent length, and very appealing(though it does have minor spoilers), the soundtrack of the game is excellent, and both the large box and the steel case are very nice. Worth the purchase if you have interest in any of those things and the game itself.

  • Simply superb.
    James E. (Jan 3, 2018) on Amazon
This is a great game, even if the combat can be a little slow-going at the beginning. I've got nearly 120 hours in this game so far, with about 70 hours in the story alone. There are plenty of sidequests and missions to take on, as well as a good bit of post-game content to really test your skill when it comes to various superbosses scattered about. The only downside would be the randomness of the blades obtained through bonding, but it doesn't detract from how fun the game is overall. The artbook is done nicely, and the soundtrack is great.

Yaaaaaaaaaay!!!! Great JRPG!! Nintendo really killed it this year. So behind on all the games now. Still hard to believe Monolith was able to get this one out in 2017. Huge game. Beautiful world that's so fun to explore! I loved the special edition! The box and contents were lovely and well worth it to me. Surprised by the quality. Definitely worth a purchase!
