AND HOW DO YOU USE IT?

What Is Koo,

Koo is a Twitter-like app which won an AatmaNirbhar Bharat app prize in August 2020, but it has really picked up steam in 2021.

The app suddenly came into the spotlight when senior politicians started to tweet about it, prompting people to talk about quitting Twitter.

To install Koo, just search for it on Google Play or the App Store. The developer name is Koo India on Google Play, and Bombinate Technologies on the App Store.

One you've started the app for the first time, choose your language. There are 7 options so far, with more coming. Some parts remain in English, no matter what you pick.

Next, enter your number to get an OTP. Multiple people had issues at this step, so you might have to try a few times before you can access the app.

That's it ? you're inside Koo. You'll see a list of accounts Koo recommends, along with your feed, and a + button for posting.

The People tab shows accounts in categories like Politicians, Journalists, Poets, etc.

Koo has another Twitter-like feature, trending hashtags. Overall, the experience is like a less refined Twitter, for now.

Koo app clearly draws a lot from Twitter, although some things, like the metrics, are presented more easily. But how many users will stay and how many will return to Twitter in short order?
