You need to be on the latest version of WhatsApp for Android or iOS, and your WhatsApp number should be the same number that's linked with your bank account.

To get started, open the Payments tab on your phone and add your bank details.
Adding your bank account
To add your details, just tap on Add a Payment Method and select your bank.
Follow the on-screen prompts, and you'll see that the bank has been added under the Payments tab.
To actually send money, the simplest way is if the other person is also using WhatsApp Pay. If yes, then just open a chat and then look for Payments in the attachments menu.
How to send money
Next, you just select payments, enter the amount, add a note if you want to, and then hit send. Finally, you'll have to enter your UPI PIN when prompted, and you're done.
You can also send money via the UPI address, for people that aren't using WhatsApp. Go to the payments page and tap new payment. Then you can enter the ID, and the rest is the same.
