The new era of consoles have dawned upon us, as two of the most anticipated gaming consoles, Xbox Series X and PlayStation 5 are finally available in India. Here's how they compare head-to-head
Design
The design of the Xbox Series X looks similar to a PC Tower and is more of a cuboid. The PS5 is a tall, curvaceous console that looks like a high-collared catsuit.
Prices
The Xbox Series X comes in a single variant that is priced at Rs. 49,990. The PS5 comes in two variants — the digital only variant is priced at Rs. 39,990 while the disc variant costs Rs. 49,990.
Both consoles have 8-core CPUs from AMD, but the Xbox's are clocked at 3.8GHz while the PS5's are 3.5GHz. Both have graphics from AMD too, with Xbox Series X providing 12 teraflops of power to the PS5's 10.28 teraflops.
Specifications
Extra Smarts
Xbox Series X supports Dolby Atmos for gaming, streaming and Blu-rays whereas PS5 has its own bespoke 3D audio processing called Tempest. Both consoles offer plenty of streaming apps and have quick switching features that let you quickly swap between games.
Controllers
Both consoles have new controller designs. Highlights of PS5's DualSense include a new haptic engine and an integrated microphone. Series X has a new Share button and some new ergonomic tweaks.
Picture Quality
The actual gaming performance of the two consoles is incredibly close, but XSX has variable refresh rate tech, which gives it an upper hand. Both are capable of 4k gaming too and can even support ray tracing
Games
PS5 is flooded with exclusives at launch, including Spider-Man: Miles Morales, whereas the XSX has slightly fewer big exclusive titles at launch, the delay of Halo: Infinite is also hurting its rep.
