Intel and Tag Heuer have collaborated to launch the latter's latest Android Wear smartwatch - the Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45. It will be available in Satin or Polished Grade 5 Titanium variants beginning Tuesday from tagheuer.com, TAG Heuer stores, specialty watch stores, and major retailers worldwide. Prices start from $1,600 (roughly Rs. 1,05,200)
The Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 luxury smartwatch runs Android Wear 2.0, and the Swiss watchmaker is touting the customisation capabilities that give users over 500 style choices. Buyers can select from 56 different versions of the watch - 11 standard models offered in-store with an additional 45 upon request. Further, personalisation can be affected with a variety of modules, horns, bracelets, and buckles, as well as up to 30 watch dial options. Tag Heuer adds that the smartwatch module itself can be changed out for a mechanical watch or the prestigious Heuer 02T Tourbillon Chronograph.
Other features being touted by Tag Heuer include connectivity options such as Wi-Fi 802.11 b/g/n, Bluetooth v4.1, GPS, and NFC, which powers tap-to-pay functionality including Android Pay. Also being boasted of is Google Voice control via the integrated microphone. Finally, the Tag Heuer Companion app for Android will supposedly help users take "full advantage of the watch's features," including smart scheduling. An iOS version is coming soon.
The Tag Heuer Connected Modular 45 is based on the Intel Atom Z34XX processor with 512MB of RAM. It features a 1.39-inch (400x400 pixels) AMOLED display with 2.5D curved sapphire glass and a durable titanium case. Water resistance up to 5 atmospheres (up to 50 metres) is also detailed. The company promises more than a day of battery life with the 410mAh battery, and says the smartwatch comes with 4GB of storage. The smartwatch is compatible with smartphones running Android 4.3 and higher versions, and iOS 9 and higher versions.
