Expanding its wearable lineup, Huawei brand Honor on Friday launched the Honor Band A2 in India. The fitness band, which was announced back in May last year, will go on sale in the country starting January 8 with a price tag of Rs. 2,499. It will be exclusively available for purchase through Amazon.in and will come in a Black finish.

The Honor Band A2 sports a 0.96-inch OLED touchscreen panel and comes with an embedded heart rate sensor. The built-in sensor uses some proprietary algorithms to enable the fitness band to calculate heart rate data accurately, Honor says. Also, the Honor Band A2 has the capabilities to record heart rate, time, and distance data of a single exercise while walking, running, or cycling to display all-day exercise data such as step count and calories burnt on the connected smartphone. The band additionally allows users to detect and track their sleep status to diagnose any sleep issues.

Further, the Honor Band A2 can be used to receive call and message notifications in a real time. It comes in a sweat- and water-resistant build and delivers up to nine days of battery life on a single charge.

"The Honor Band A2 is the best in category wearable gadget with smart health and notification features. It is more than just a simple fitness band that not only helps you live a healthy lifestyle but also stay updated on the social front as well," said P Sanjeev, Vice President, Sales, Huawei Consumer Business Group, in a press release.

The Honor A2 comes months after the launch of the Honor Band 3 in India. That fitness band was launched at Rs. 2,799 and included a 0.9-inch PMOLED display. In November, Huawei brought the Huawei Band 2, Band 2 Pro, and the Huawei Fit fitness devices to the country with a starting price of Rs. 4,599. All those three wearables came with a heart rate sensor and were marketed to offer all-day heart monitoring.
