Apple on Wednesday at its San Francisco event announced the all new Apple Watch Series 2 apart from the new iPhone 7 and iPhone 7 Plus. This is the first major hardware upgrade for the Apple Watch. The new Apple Watch Series 2 will be available at a starting price of $369 (Rs. 32,900 in India), and will be available from September 16 while October 7 in India.

The Apple Watch Series 2 will come in Aluminium case with Sport Band or Woven Nylon strap, Aluminium case with Nike Sport Band, Stainless steel case with Hermes strap, and Ceramic case with Sport Band. Unlike the previous Apple Watch Series 1 model, there will no Gold variant of the new Apple Watch.
The new White Ceramic Case with Cloud Sport Band 38mm and 42mm will be priced at whopping $1,249 (approximately Rs. 83,000) and $1,299 (approximately Rs. 86,500) respectively. The prices for the Ceramic model are less than the pricing of the Apple Watch Gold variant which launched in 2014 alongside the iPhone 6. To recall, Apple Watch Edition was launched at Rs. 9,90,000 for the 18-Carat Rose Gold Case with White Sport Band.
The Apple Watch Series 2 in Stainless steel cases will be available at a starting price of $649 (approximately Rs. 43,000).
The all-new Apple Watch Series 2 comes with a lot of improvements over the last generation product and is water resistant to 50 metres, pack a dual-core processor, and runs watchOS 3. One of the biggest upgrades to the Series 2 is the built-in GPS.
Other connectivity options include Wi-Fi 802.11b/g/n, and Bluetooth 4.0. It packs a heart rate sensor, accelerometer, gyroscope, and ambient light sensor.
Apple Watch Series 2 features OLED Retina display with Force Touch and is claimed to be twice as bright as the last generation wearable. It sports a screen resolution of 272x340 pixels (38mm) and 312x390 pixels (42mm). The Apple Watch Series 2 is said to deliver up to 18 hours.
