Apple Watch Battery Lasts 'About a Day'; to Improve by Release: Report

Apple's Tuesday launch saw the company refreshing its iPhone lineup alongside unveiling its long-rumoured smartwatch, dubbed Watch.

Tim Cook even claimed that the new Watch was the company's "most personal device ever created," however Apple somehow missed revealing battery life details of its first smartwatch.

Now, a report claims that one of the biggest possibilities why Apple missed the battery life details during the Tuesday's keynote was that the company has not been "happy" with the Watch's battery life.

Re/code claims the battery life of the Apple Watch is "About a day right now," and will not be breaking any industry standards. However, its source added that the company is now working on modifications on the Watch ahead of the next year's release.

For those unaware, the Apple Watch has been priced starting $349 (Rs. 21,000 approximately) and would be available only in "early 2015."

The report also quotes Apple spokeswoman Natalie Kerris, "There's a lot of new technology packed into Apple Watch and we think people will love using it throughout the day."

Kerris, without revealing the expected battery life of the Watch, stressed that the company anticipates consumers to charge the smartwatch once daily.

"We anticipate that people will charge nightly which is why we designed an innovative charging solution that combines our MagSafe technology and inductive charging," Kerris added.

Notably, the smartwatch segment has already seen a number of launches in recent time with a majority of them running Google's Android Wear platform for wearable devices.

Motorola launched its Moto 360 recently which was listed 'sold out' soon after going on sale in the US priced at $249 (roughly Rs. 15,000). The Samsung Gear Live was announced at I/O and went on sale in India in July.

Asus joined the wearable bandwagon with the launch of its first ZenWatch smartwatch at the IFA, saying it would be released later this year.

LG in less than a year has unveiled two smartwatches - LG G Watch and LG G Watch R. Sony was not too far behind, launching the Android Wear-powered SmartWatch 3 at IFA.
