Videocon d2h has launched India's first High Definition - Digital Video Recorder with 3D.
Unlike similar HD products from Tata Sky and Reliance Digital TV this DVR will also provide 3D programming. To start with, Videocon will have its own active channel for 3D movies. Though, they are in talks with Walt Disney and other studios for more 3D content.
It will also be able to pause, rewind and forward live TV and record up to 200 hours of recording. It offers pictures in 16:9 aspect ratio, 5x digital picture quality and High Definition Digital sound.
Videocon d2h has 288 channels & Services with a very strong regional content. The customers can watch their favorite channels in HD format by subscribing to its HD channels. The newly added Channels in HD format are Discovery HD, NGC HD, Movies Now HD, Travel XP, HD Active Music, HD d2h Movies.
The HD market in India is definitely heating up with major players like Tata Sky, Big TV, Dish TV and SunHD launching HD services. Recently Dish TV launched their TruHD service where they are providing 30 channels in HD. As of now Dish TV is providing the maximum amount of content in HD with all Zee network channels in HD, with major channels from the Star Network. In that regard Videocon has some catching up to do, as with the limited penetration of 3D televisions in the country the 3D feature may not be a major draw. Also, a single 3D channel may limit the content that the users may be able to watch.
