Sony has launched the VPL-VW500ES 4K home cinema projector for the Indian market at Rs. 7, 99,000. The latest projector from Sony was announced globally at IFA in September this year and will be available in India starting November.

The Sony VPL-VW500ES projector uses 4K SXRD panels, which the company claims are capable of producing a DCI-based 4096x2160 pixel resolution. It also equips the latest HDMI 2.0 to accommodate 4K/60p content, which allows fast action movie sequences to appear smooth without any pixels enhancement. The company also claims that the VPL-VW500ES possesses a 4K up-scaling algorithm that has been exclusively designed for 'Mastered in 4K' Blu-ray discs from Sony Pictures Entertainment.

"With any home projector set up, home users are typically concerned with the amount of rear space required for a projector installation. This concern has been addressed with the front air exhaust cooling system of the VPL-VW500ES, which allows home users to maximise the throw distance for a larger projected image without worrying about rear space limitations. Its 2.06 zoom powered lens with a wide shift range also means there is also no need for additional platform extensions in ceiling mounts for installation in rooms with high ceilings. A built-in RF transmitter provides further installation flexibility with a strong wireless signal for wider coverage," said the company is a press note.

The Sony VPL-VW500ES projector has 1,700ANSI-lumen brightness and boasts of a 200,000:1 contrast ratio for sharper picture quality. The new Sony projector uses TRILUMINOS display technology, with an 'enhanced optical engine design' and auto-calibration features.

The projector also includes manual colour correction tools to adjust the hue, saturation and brightness. Further, the Sony VPL-VW500ES projector features Motionflow picture technology which supposedly delivers clearer, less blurry images when watching fast-paced and action sequences.
