The smaller of the two speakers, the SRS-X11, is cube-shaped with a single 45mm driver and dual passive radiators. It has a 150-20,000Hz frequency response range, a power output of 10W and weighs 215 grams. Sony claims an approximate battery life of up to 12 hours. The speaker comes with a silicon strap included in the box and is available in four colour options - Black, White, Red and Blue.
The other speaker launched is the SRS-X55, which features two 38mm drivers, a 58mm subwoofer and dual passive radiators. The frequency response range measures from 60-20,000Hz, power output is 30W in total and the speaker weighs 1.2kgs. The claimed battery life is up to 10 hours. The box includes a leather carry case and there is only a single colour option - Black.
The SRS-X11 additionally allows daisy chaining, where multiple speakers can be connected together for added sound. The SRS-X55 has a USB port to allow charging of other devices, using the built-in Lithium-ion battery in the form of an external battery pack.
Last month, Sony launched the Rs. 7,990 SRS-X2 portable speaker, which signalled the intent of the Japanese electronics giant to establish itself in the growing portable speaker market. These new products will aim to use Sony's established brand value to take on the likes of JBL, Bose and other small players in an increasingly competitive product segment.
