Folks over at Vietnamese blog Tinhte have got their hands on what they believe are next generation Apple earphones that will ship with the
new iPhone.
Apple's white earphones debuted with the original iPod in 2001 and since they've evolved over the years to incorporate customer feedback and product evolution. The earphones may not win any awards for audio quality but they've come to represent Apple's brand, and have featured prominently in multiple Apple ads.
Vietnamese blog
Tinhte, that has a pretty decent record with respect to Apple-related leaks, has laid its hands on new design Apple earphones that feature oval tips instead of circular ones. The earphones reportedly fit in ear more comfortably and seem pretty authentic, down to "Designed by Apple in California Assembled in Vietnam" marking.
In case you are wondering, Apple supplier Foxconn does have factories in Vietnam, so the "Assembled in Vietnam" bit doesn't seem entirely implausible.
Apple earphones presently come in four variants: the basic Apple Earphones (no controls) that ship with most iPods, the Shuffle Apple Headphones (with Remote), the Apple Earphones (with Remote and Mic) that ship with iPhones & current-generation iPod Touch, and the premium Apple In-Ear Headphones (with Remote and Mic) that are sold independently.
It is likely that any change in earphones design won't restrict to just the iPhone, and would reflect across the entire earphones family.
