New Chromecast-Enabled Games Now Available for Android and iOS

Google, after the introduction of Chromecast-enabled games last year, has this week announced the launch of more Chromecast-enabled games on both Android and iOS platforms. The games can be installed on smartphones or tablets but can be played on the television as they are Chromecast-enabled.

"Just in time for the holidays, we're adding more Chromecast-enabled games for both Android and iOS to the list," writes Wendi Zhang, Chromecast Business Development Games Lead and Ultimate Bird Caster in a blog post.

Some of the new Chromecast-enabled games that are now available include Rovio's Angry Birds Friends, and Ubisoft's Driver Speedboat Paradise as well as Hasbro games such as Monopoly Here & Now, Yahtzee Blitz, The Game of Life, and Scrabble Blitz 2.0. Google however points out that the Hasbro games will be available in the US and Canada only. It's worth noting that some of the apps do offer split-screen experience on iOS as well.

The company also confirmed plans to launch more games soon. Users can check Chromecast-enabled games on the website on the company page.

In other news, Design Lead for Chromecast, Kristen Beck, has explained reasons why Google changed the original Chromecast's design. To recall, Google unveiled the second-generation Chromecast back in September with a complete makeover from the original's construction. The all new design saw an HDMI cable looped inside a circular Chromecast logo-shaped unit.

While talking to Business Insider on the new Chromecast design, Beck said, "There were a lot of 'sticks' out there." She stressed that the company wanted to make it different and not follow the familiar stick design.

Adding further she said, "We wanted to make it more 'Googley'. We're now the only circular puck in the streaming space. Even if you have no idea about the streaming media landscape - if you have no clue about which brands make which ones - you can at least know the difference between a stick and a circle. And that alone will differentiate us."
