Harman International on Tuesday expanded its portfolio of JBL, Harman Kardon and Infinity audio devices with the launch of over two dozen new models in India. The company also announced that it had widened its local presence by making its popular JBL and Harman Kardon products available through 350 of Samsung's key brand stores in the country and opened three new service centres in key metros including New Delhi, Mumbai, Chennai, Kolkata, and Bengaluru.

With the new expansion, Harman is now offering audio products between Rs. 1,119 and Rs. 39,990. The range includes audio portables, headphones, home and multimedia and car aftermarket products. Among the newly launched devices, the Samsung-owned company highlighted the JBL Flip 4 (review), JBL Pulse 3, Harman Kardon Traveler, Harman Kardon OMNI+ series, JBL Cinema SB450 and Infinity Kappa Perfect 600. The company also showcased the developments such as Google Assistant-powered JBL Link series and Amazon Alexa-backed Harman Kardon Allure in addition to the JBL Boombox, JBL Jr, and JBL Free. These models will go on sale in the Indian market starting the first quarter of 2018.

In November last year, Samsung announced the acquisition Harman for nearly $8 billion in cash. That deal will now enable both the companies to create a 'Connected Ecosystem' for Indian customers.

"Samsung is India's biggest consumer electronics company and the most trusted brand. We listen to our customers and develop meaningful innovations that help make their lives better. This synergy with Harman allows us to offer richer experiences and a comprehensive portfolio of smart, connected and cutting-edge audio products. Our consumers can now enjoy a connected lifestyle at home and on the move," said Asim Warsi, Senior Vice President -- Mobile Business, Samsung India, in a press statement.

Harman is additionally set to leverage Samsung's strong presence in the country to grow its R&D capabilities for domestic buyers. Last year, the company established a new centre of competence (CoC) for its consumer audio division in Bengaluru. This would give a boost to the new plans. "Our Bengaluru team is playing a crucial role in driving innovation and differentiation at the software development stage to make Harman's audio solutions smarter and connected," said Pradeep Chaudhry, Country Manager, Harman India.
