To coincide with the launch of Final Fantasy XV, Sony has launched a limited series of FFXV-branded products for Japanese customers only. These include a new Walkman – for people who still like to carry their music physically, on a separate device – a pair of headphones, and a wireless speaker.
The Sony Walkman A-series Final Fantasy XV Edition supports Hi-Res Audio, and is hence capable of playing back FLAC format audio files. The 16GB storage model will cost you JPY 33,880 (about Rs. 20,800) and can store 300 songs on average, while a 32GB version comes in at JPY 38,880 (about Rs. 23,800) and holds 660 songs. Both models have a microSD card slot (up to 128GB) thankfully, allowing you to expand storage to 144GB on the 16GB model, and 160GB on the 32GB one.
In terms of branding, you get 32-bit avatars of the four FFXV characters on the back, and “special icons” that we presume were intended to look a lot more different compared to the regular ones than they do.

Moving on, the Sony h.ear on MDR-100A Final Fantasy XV Edition headphones differentiate themselves from the standard pair by adding the “XV” logo on the side. You can pick them up for JPY 24,380 (about Rs. 15,000). Meanwhile, the Sony h.ear go SRS-HG1 Final Fantasy XV Edition speaker sport a bit more branding, with the full title of the game plastered on the top, alongside a silhouette of the four characters and their car Regalia in the bottom corner. The wireless speaker costs JPY 29,380 (about Rs. 18,000).
If you like, you can even bundle FFXV’s original soundtrack with your purchase for an additional JPY 6,000 (about Rs. 3,700), which will also fetch you a poster and a Hi-Res music card.
You can order all three of the FFXV-branded products online, or shop them at selected Sony stores across Japan. And if you’ve a My Sony ID/ Sony Entertainment Network (SEN) account, you will receive a 10 percent discount on the total. The Sony Japan online store also mentions that you should expect delivery of your goods around December 21.
