Amazon's Alexa Can Now Wake You Up to Music of Your Choice

Amazon is rolling out a new feature to its Alexa-powered range of devices that lets you set music-of your choice- as an alarm to wake you up in the morning or for any other task. This feature can be activated by saying, "Alexa, set an alarm for to <time> to <song> ". You can also ask Alexa to wake you up "every day" to the same song at the same time. The songs can be chosen from your preferred streaming service including Amazon's Prime Music or partner services like Spotify, TuneIn, and Pandora.

You can choose to play a specific song, artist, album, or even a radio station. You can also choose mood music to begin your day the way you want. The new feature will be available for all Alexa-powered devices including the Echo Dot, Echo Show, and Echo Plus. Fire TV is the only exclusion because it has no support for alarms.

The feature doesn't seem to have rolled out to all regions as it didn't seem to work on an Echo device that we tested it on in India.

TechCrunch reports that music alarms have been a top-requested feature from Alexa device owners, which is the reason why Amazon brought it to its range of smart devices. Amazon has been pushing its products, especially the Echo range of smart speakers, into customers' bedrooms by offering features that enhance their experience. Enabling customised music alarms is just the step in the right direction.

Amazon had recently also announced that the Alexa is ready for the office environment. Businesses can buy Alexa devices that help employees dial into conference calls, manage their calendars, find open meeting rooms and - not surprisingly - order work supplies from Amazon.
