Vodafone India Thursday said it has invested Rs. 500 crores in the last six months on network optimisation and putting additional mobile sites in Delhi for resolving the call drop problem.

"We have invested around Rs. 500 crores in capital expenditure in Delhi for network set up and optimisation. In the last one month, 160 sites have been added," Vodafone India Managing Director and CEO Sunil Sood said in New Delhi.

He said the service is improving in the national capital and every week, the company is adding 20-30 sites in Delhi.

Telecom Minister Ravi Shankar Prasad has also time and again asked the telecom operators to improve quality of services and invest in network infrastructure.

The minister recently said it took a lot of nudging on his part to let operators accept about their below standard quality of services.

The call drop problem has been prevailing for the past few months, though the situation now has started to improve.

The Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) last month mandated that telecom companies from January 1 should compensate users at the rate of Re. 1 per dropped call, with a ceiling of three dropped calls per day (or Rs. 3 per day).
