Videocon Telecom posted a 34 percent increase in revenue to Rs. 489 crores for the third quarter ended December 31, 2014 due to rise in mobile services revenue.

The company had posted gross revenue of Rs. 365 crores in the same period last fiscal.

"The growth this quarter can be attributed to many factors including organic growth in subscriber base & minutes of usage, and our focus on data penetration & usage, GRPM, ARPU and Usage and retention focus.

"We will be closing the financial year with a top line of Rs. 2,000 crores," Videocon Telecom Director and CEO Arvind Bali said in a statement.

Videocon has permit for mobile services in 7 service areas but at present operates only in 4 circles - Punjab, Haryana, Gujarat and Madhya Pradesh. Early this month, the company received pan-India permit for internet services.

The rise in revenue is driven by GSM business, national long distance, international long distance and Punjab's wire-line business, the statement said.

The GSM or mobile phone services revenue of the company increased by 53 percent to Rs. 202 crores in the reported quarter from Rs. 131.7 crores it posted in the year ago period.

The company said its GSM mobility business growth was fuelled by an organic growth in subscriber base, minutes of usage and data consumption, gross rate realised per minute and average revenue per user.

Videocon Telecom said that its subscriber base reached 9 million at the end of reported quarter across its 4 operating circles.

The minutes of usage rose by about 30 percent in the reported quarter over same period in last financial year, the statement said.

The data revenue of the company grew 113 percent with an 30 percent improvement in realisation per GB compared to the corresponding period of last fiscal. Videcon said that its GRPM improved by 19 percent on an year-on-year basis.
