Jio has slashed prices of its popular 1GB per day plans for prepaid subscribers, with the recharge packs now available at a starting price of Rs. 149. Along with this, Jio launched plans with 1.5GB per day and raised the daily data allowance on the Rs. 509 and Rs. 709 prepaid recharges. This move will help the Mukesh Ambani-backed telecom operator to continue offer its 4G data services at the ultra-low prices, keeping the incumbents on edge. The Jio plan revision is part of the Happy New Year 2018 offer and available for only Prime users. The plans can now be purchased from the MyJio app and the official Jio website.
The Jio 1GB per day plans have received price cuts of up to Rs. 60 under this revision. Now, buyers will get 1GB data per day for 28 days at Rs. 149 (down from Rs. 199), and for 70 days at Rs. 349 (down from Rs. 399). Similarly, prepaid users can purchase recharges of Rs. 399 and Rs. 449 to get 1GB data per day for 84 days and 91 days, respectively; these packs were earlier priced at Rs. 459 and Rs. 499.
The earlier Rs. 149 pack, which offered 28-day validity and 150MB data per day, has been phased out as part of this exercise.

Prepaid users who find 1GB per day insufficient can instead go for the new 1.5GB data per day recharge packs. Priced at Rs. 198, Rs. 398, Rs. 448, and Rs. 498, the new Jio plans come with 28-day, 70-day, 84-day, and 91-day validities, respectively.
Jio Rs. 509, Rs. 799 plans
As mentioned earlier, Jio has also updated the Rs. 509 and Rs. 799 packs to provide more data to its prepaid subscribers at the same prices. So, buyers of the Rs. 509 plan will now get 3GB of high-speed data per day for 28 days, instead of 2GB per day for 49 days. In fact, it is the most lucrative of all Jio plans at the moment, and is likely to push up the company’s ARPU (Average Revenue Per User).
Similarly, the Rs. 799 plan now offers 5GB of 4G data daily, up from the original 3GB per day. The validity of the plan remains the same as before. The Rs. 299 plan with 2GB data per day remains unchanged.
Price | Daily data allowance | Validity | Total data (1GB/day) |
---|---|---|---|
Rs. 149 | 1GB per day | 28 days | 28GB |
Rs. 198 | 1.5GB per day | 28 days | 42GB |
Rs. 299 | 2GB per day | 28 days | 56GB |

Rs. 398 | 1.5GB per day | 70 days | 105GB |
Rs. 399 | 1GB per day | 84 days | 84GB |
Rs. 448 | 1.5GB per day | 84 days | 126GB |
Rs. 449 | 1GB per day | 91 days | 91GB |
Rs. 498 | 1.5GB per day | 91 days | 136GB |
Rs. 509 | 3GB per day | 28 days | 84GB |
Rs. 799 | 5GB per day | 28 days | 140GB |
All the above-mentioned recharge packs come with freebies such as unlimited calls to any network across India, no roaming charges, 100 free SMSes per day, and access to Jio apps.
The move comes into effect just days before the ongoing Jio promotion with cashback and vouchers of up to Rs. 3,300 ends. The operator has 160 million users across the country, and has been dictating market terms since its launch. In the past few weeks, operators have started offering more data without raising prices on certain popular recharge packs, so this move can be seen as a means to keep Jio users from moving to other networks.
