After its Rs. 39 offer that provides unlimited calls to its subscribers, state-owned Bharat Sanchar Nigam Limited (BSNL) has launched a new pack for its prepaid customers. In a bid to take on the stiff competition from Reliance Jio, BSNL has launched a Rs. 118 recharge pack that offers unlimited voice calls and data benefits for a validity of 28 days.

The new pack is for its prepaid customers who can get up to 1GB of data, unlimited voice call benefits, and a validity of 28 days to use it, reports TelecomTalk. This pack has been introduced to take on Jio's Rs. 98 recharge pack that offers almost similar benefits. To put things into perspective, the Jio pack of Rs. 98 offers unlimited voice calls, 2GB of data, and 300 SMS'es for a validity of 28 days. While the Jio pack offers Jio apps subscription, BSNL is giving its users access to a free PRBT tune. Once the recharge is done, the BSNL signature tune gets activated automatically for free. BSNL will charge for any other PRBT tune, if the customer wishes to customise it.

This Rs. 118 BSNL pack is available in many circles including Chennai, Tamil Nadu, Kolkata, and more. The pack offers unlimited voice calls on roaming network as well, except for Mumbai and Delhi telecom circles. After the 1GB data is over, BSNL will charge its standard rates on data usage.

To take on Jio's Rs. 98 pack, Airtel and Idea had also launched their on recharge packs in the same price range offering the same benefits. Airtel upgraded its Rs. 93 pack to provide customers with unlimited calls and 1GB data for 28 days. The Rs. 109 prepaid pack by Idea offers 'unlimited' local, STD, and roaming calls, alongside 1GB of data and daily 100 local and national SMS. The voice calls through the pack are limited to 250 minutes per day and 1,000 minutes per week, identical to other 'unlimited' packs. Furthermore, beyond the bundled calls, subscribers will be charged at 1 paisa per second for calls.
