BSNL has been launching prepaid packs with generous data allocations for a few months now to remain competitive against the aggressive plans launched by Jio, Airtel, Vodafone, etc. Now, it  seems, is the turn of BSNL postpaid users to get some affordable plans as well. A postpaid plan with unlimited calls at Rs. 399 is in the pipeline for the state-owned telecom operator, the company’s Chairman and Managing Director (CMD) has confirmed.

In a Twitter chat, BSNL CMD Anupam Shrivastava was asked by a user when the operator would match postpaid offerings with unlimited calling by the likes of Airtel and Idea. In response, Shrivastava said, “We are soon launching a plan in postpaid with unlimited calling  @ Rs. 399.”

While the tweet does confirm the upcoming Rs. 399 postpaid plan will offer unlimited calling, it doesn’t mention anything in terms of data allocation. There is no concrete word on the timeline of the launch as well. Moreover, BSNL network still only offers 3G speeds in most areas — its 4G services are only available in Kerala circle.

Recently, Idea Cellular updated its Rs. 389 postpaid plan to provide 20GB data, up from 10GB. Similarly, the Airtel Rs. 399 plan now gives users 20GB of bundled data for the billing cycle, instead of 10GB. Vodafone also has the same data allocation for the Rs. 399 postpaid plan. The Jio postpaid plan at Rs. 409 also offers 20GB of bundled data. Moreover, Airtel, Vodafone and Idea also offer the data rollover service, which allows customers to consume unused data from one billing cycle in the next month.
