Idea faced a network outage in the the National Capital Region on Tuesday, users reported. Tweets poured since noon, bemoaning the lack of connectivity in the Delhi NCR region, with both call and data networks said to have been affected. One user even reported that after a flood of complaints, an Idea store in Delhi's Krishna Nagar shut shop. To recall, Idea recently merged with the India subsidiary of global telecoms giant Vodafone, forming the joint entity Vodafone-India to take on the growing threat of upstart Reliance Jio.
Gadgets 360 was also able to confirm the Idea network outage in the region, thanks to a report by a family member. As per a tweet by a Twitter user at 2:33pm, the issue began at about 12pm (noon) IST, and other user reports showed it lasted at least 5 hours - a significant amount of time. An Idea spokesperson confirmed the outage to Gadgets 360, and said it had been resolved, "There was a temporary disruption due to a technical glitch. Our team resolved the issue promptly and services are completely restored now. We regret any inconvenience caused to our customers."
While some Idea users are reported the inability to make calls thanks to the network outage, other users reported the lack of 2G/ 3G/ and 4G connectivity during the outage. Another user, as we mentioned, claimed that the Idea store in the Krishna Nagar locality in Delhi has also shut down shop after numerous complaints.
Delhi NCR encompasses New Delhi, as well as the suburbs Faridabad, Ghaziabad, Gurugram, and Noida. While most of the reports are citing a network outage in Delhi NCR, many reports specifically cited Noida. About 4 hours into the outage, the Idea Customercare handle on Twitter was seen reassuring users that this is a temporary issue, didn't provide a timeline for resolution.
