Idea has announced a partnership with Sony Mobiles India under which the operator will offer 60GB of extra data to buyers of the Xperia R1 and Xperia R1 Plus smartphones. The Sony smartphones are affordable offerings and unveiled in India in late October; they will become available for purchase in India starting November 10.
Buyers of Sony Xperia R1 and R1 Plus will get 10GB data on purchasing a recharge of Rs. 300 and above from Idea. They can avail this offer six times, totalling in 60GB of complimentary data. Apart from this, Amazon India is providing buyers Rs. 75 as cashback on purchases made via Amazon Pay balance. Customers can also opt for no-cost EMI via Bajaj FinServ and major credit cards for the two phones.

Both the phones come with almost identical innards with just RAM and storage difference. The Sony Xperia R1 Plus packs 3GB of RAM and 32GB of storage and costs Rs. 12,990, while the Xperia R1 packs 2GB of RAM and 16GB of storage and is priced at Rs. 14,990.
The Sony Xperia R1 Plus and R1 feature 5.2-inch HD (720x1280 pixels) TFT displays and are powered by octa-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 430 SoC. Both run on Android Nougat out-of-the-box but Android Oreo update is being promised for the handsets. The dual-SIM devices sport 13-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, Exmor Sony sensor, and LED flash. There's an 8-megapixel front camera on each, and they are backed by a 2620mAh and support USB Type-C port. Sony is also promoting the handsets’ support for fast upload and browsing via uplink data compression (UDC).
