Idea 4G Service Launched in Kolkata Ahead of 'Pujo' Season; 10GB Free Data Offered

To compete with Jio and Airtel in the aggressive Indian telecom market, Vodafone Idea, the largest telecom service provider in India, has now made 4G services available to Idea subscribers in Kolkata. Ahead of the "Pujo season", the company has also announced freebies for its subscribers in the city. Under the new offer, the telco is offering free 10GB of 4G data for all its customers in the region. Notably, the offer comes with a validity period of 7 days. Additionally, Idea is offering complimentary 4G SIM card upgrade for its subscribers in Kolkata.

To recall, in August this year, Vodafone and Idea Cellular had announced the completion of the merger of their India operations, a move meant to combat rival Jio that had caused a widespread disruption in the domestic telecom industry. With the completion of the merger of Vodafone and Idea, customers of Idea will now be able to use 4G via an Intra Circle Roaming (ICR) agreement with Vodafone. Notably, Idea subscribers can now avail a complimentary 4G SIM upgrade from the company's showrooms and retail outlets across the city.

Notably, the one-time 4G launch data offer can be availed till October 20, 2018. You will be able to avail the free 10GB of data by dialling *800*444# from any Idea number in Kolkata, provided you have a smartphone with 4G support. The company says that users in Kolkata will now experience high-speed 4G internet alongside fast access to Digital Idea apps during the 'Pujo' season.

Shivan Bhargava, Circle Head, Kolkata and RoB, Vodafone Idea said in a statement, "We are delighted to extend our world class 4G services to over 3.1 million Idea customers in Kolkata, fulfilling their ever-increasing infotainment needs with a Free 10 GB Data offer, during the auspicious occasion of Durga Pujo. Additionally, with nearly 1200 sites on ICR in Rest of West Bengal circle, Idea users in the state will enjoy unmatched 4G coverage and seamless data experience."
